I remember poem

                                                           The first day

I remember the scent of the sizzling bacon in the morning

I remember the loud noise of the screaming grey house

The children sad as another day of school comes

I remember my dad going to work before the sun appeared

But most of all I remember the sound of the school bus stopping

I remember the sound of my shoes hitting the metal stairs

The smell of the moldy bus seats suddenly hitting me

I remember all the dinks and bumps on the way to school

I remember the trough texture of the seats

The holes made in them by the little children

I remember the sleepiness along the way

The soreness in my eyes as I struggled to stay awake

I remember the quietness of the bus

The occasional yawn being the only noise

I remember the slow but sudden stop

The children knowing what this meant

The arrival to the school

I remember everyone standing up

I remember everyone letting out a sigh

I remember the sound of everyone’s shoes hitting the metal floor

I remember standing up

Joining the line of exhausted people

I remember walking down the metal steps

Kids stumbling on their way down

Some tripping amongst themselves

I remember the atmosphere of the whole lot

Some excited to be there

Others dreading the moment

Some excited to see their old friends

Others quiet and tired

I remember entering the cold building

Very different from the scorching summer heat

I remember the crowded hallways

Everyone trying to find their classes

I remember walking into my old homeroom

Seeing all my old friends there as well

I remember being excited having classes with people I know

I remember the teacher being nice to us

As every teacher is at the beginning

I remember throughout the day being nervous

Nervous to find out how the people in my class were

I remember everyone talking to each other

Everyone loud

Not one silent person

I remember it being extremely different from the morning

A complete change in the atmosphere

I remember occasionally glancing at the clock

Seeing how slow time had been going

Then I remember hearing the bell

The bell signaling our time to leave

I remember everyone rushing to the door

Hallways causing a stampede

I remember everyone running to their busses

But most of all I remember the loudness of everyone
