The friendly park – No Labels Attached Assignment
I take my children to the park for they could play
Not knowing what will happen throughout the day
Hoping for a relaxing evening today
Where I could just sit and rest
The evening was peaceful
I could feel the sun on my skin tingling
I could hear the kids screaming and running
I could see my children having fun
But I could feel someone staring
I hear someone arguing and screaming
I look over and see it’s a woman speaking
The eyes reflecting off her eyes just gleaming
I quickly look away
Not wanting any problems from the lady with the purple
hair
But it was to late as she shifted her focus to me
I could barely understand her words as I have no
degree
But the few I did understand hurt me
“Go back to Mexico” she screams
Knowing I came here hoping to be free
She keeps yelling and insulting me
When I’ve done nothing but look at thee
The racist words keep coming
I could do noting but sit and plea
I try to grab my children and flee
But the lady gets in front of us
She appeared to be violent yelling and screaming
But the others from the park came to help me
Complete strangers I’ve never seen
Approaching to help me
The strangers from the friendly park
