Letter to the teacher

To Whomever it May Concern:

My name is Justin Linares. As you may know I am a senior at Pebble brook High School. I’ve been going to this school since my freshman year. I plan to graduate soon at this school as well. I just turned 17 years old last month so I’m a bit younger compared to the rest of the seniors. What I consider some of my strengths in terms of school is reading and social studies. Although I’m not fond of reading, I don’t have an issue with it. My weakness in education has to be math. Although math is my favorite subject, I am terrible at it.

Although my mathematical skills may be terrible, something that isn’t is my family and homelife. Many people consider family annoying, and although at times it may be true it doesn’t make them terrible people. My family is laid back. We go places with each other and share memories with each other. Sometimes they may be a bit annoying with how loud they occasionally get, but it doesn’t matter to me because in my opinion it’s better to have this type of family then those who don’t speak. I live with my mother and 2 younger siblings, a sister and a brother. Although I have 3 siblings, one moved out as she is 20 years old. My mother raised all of us together, so I know more than 1 language. I was raised speaking Spanish with my mother and father and learned English when I started going to school. I also had a few pets when I was a younger kid so its expected one of my siblings would also want one. As of now we have a small 2-year-old chihuahua.

Some of my interests and hobbies in life include soccer and cars. Ever since I was a kid, these 2 things have always sparked an interest in me. I’ve been playing soccer since I was a little kid. Although I’ve taken multiple breaks through out the years, I’ve always found myself going back to it. In terms of my interest, one has always stuck with me; that is cars. I’ve always had an interest in vehicles since I was a little kid: building engines and repairing them. I’ve always had an interest in automobiles. Some of my favorite things to do is going to the field with my friends to play soccer. Every time we go it’s a fun memorable day. Another of my favorite thing to do is sleeping. After a long eventful day, the human body needs rest.

In my whole school life, I’ve only had an issue with one English class. It was my freshman year in this school. I couldn’t concentrate on that class at all. It was probably my lowest English grade in all my school life. I finished the class with a 73. As of now I’m not sure what I need help in language arts. I don’t remember my 11-grade language arts teacher, but I know I finished the class with a good grade. It was a pretty easy class and I understood everything fairly easily. I only struggled at the beginning as I was moved into the class around 1 month into school. Some things I like to read is action and mystery. I don’t really have a favorite genre to write on, I just write based on the topic that’s given to me. As of now I’m not sure what to expect of this class. I just hope it’ll be a fun class and not boring like most of my other language art classes.

Heroism in my culture is viewed as something big that represents your people. An example would be bravery of the Mexicans fighting for their revolution. Ever since my people have gotten their freedom from the Spanish, we have always associated that heroism with bravery. Cowardice is viewed as a joke in my culture. Those who are cowards are often laughed at and made fun of. A time I was challenged to be brave was when I first started driving. I was challenged because I was out of my comfort zone and didn’t feel confident enough to drive on public roads. I was in fear of crashing my sister’s car. But at the end of the day, it all worked out and nothing bad happened.

With this letter I hope you had the chance to get to know me better as a student and as a person. I hope this year will be fun, memorable, and that we will be able to improve me as a student and you as a teacher.

                                                                                                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                                       Justin Linares
