Where I’m from Poem

I am from cellphone

From apple and PlayStation

I am from the grey house on Riverside

Grey, small

It looked small and sounded loud

I am from the river

The Chattahoochee river

The wide muddy cold river

I’m from the Christmas tamales and black hair

From Sofia and Carlos

And Delia

I’m from the hard workers and leaders

From always be on time and respect your elders

I’m from a catholic family, la virgin de Guadalupe

I’m from Atlanta and Mexico

Tamales and popusas

From the dangerous civil war my father fled

The family my mother had to leave behind in the mountain village near Oaxaca

I am from the city of Atlanta, coming from the mountains of Mexico and the lakes of Guatemala. I’m a person who is kind to others. I help my family whenever they need something.
